Basic Life Support/Health Care Provider (BLS/HCP) CPR Courses

The BLS/HCP CPR course can be offered as a Stand-alone course or have Airway Management and/or Oxygen Therapy added as additional certifications to the BLS/HCP course.

ORIGINAL COURSE
  • BLS/HCP CPR Stand-alone Course: 4 hours
  • BLS & Airway Management: 1 - 2 hours 
  • BLS & Oxygen Therapy: 1 - 2 hours​
Cost: 
  • BLS/HCP CPR - $80.00 + GST
  • Oxygen Therapy* - $15.00 + GST (added to BLS course fee)
  • Airway Management* - $15.00 + GST (added to BLS course fee)​
  • *Stand Alone price of either Oxygen Therapy or Airway Management without the BLS course - $30.00 + GST​
RECERTIFICATION COURSE:
  • BLS/HCP CPR Stand-alone Course: 2 hours
Cost: $65.00 + GST
Prerequisite:  Participant must currently hold a valid certificate in the same level.  Certificates expired by even 1 day are invalid.

Basic Life Support/Health Care Provider CPR (BLS/HCP)

This course is designed to build participant confidence in performing cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) skills and provide the important steps to perform a rapid assessment, perform Basic Life Support/Health Care Provider (BLS/HCP) skills, and perform rapid defibrillation.  Airway Management and/or Oxygen Therapy can also be added as additional certifications to the BLS/HCP course.
Audience:
In-facility care providers, including nursing staff, care aides, medical and dental professionals. Pre-hospital care providers, which may include professionals in a fire service, rescue team, sports-medicine, lifeguards and ski patrol.
Prerequisites:
  • None
Completion Criteria:
  • Successfully demonstrate all course skill competencies;
  • 100% attendance and participation;
  • 75% minimum passing grade on a written, closed book knowledge evaluation;
  • and adherence to the Fundamental Principles.
Certification:
  • 1-year certification in Basic Life Support/Health Care Provider (digital certificate issued upon successful completion)
Recertification:
  • 1-year certification in Basic Life Support/Health Care Provider

Airway Management

Designed to provide participants with the knowledge and skills to create a patent airway, the interventions to maintain it, and the equipment available to carry out these skills. Participants will gain the knowledge and skills required to provide the appropriate interventions, including measuring and inserting the applicable airway adjunct based on the patient’s condition.  Course can also be combined with Basic Life Support training for additional certification.
Audience:
In-facility and health care providers (nursing, care aides, dental industry, medical offices etc.), pre-hospital care groups (fire departments, rescue teams, sports therapists, lifeguards, SCUBA divers, ski patrol, etc.).
Prerequisites:
  • None
Completion Criteria:
  • Successfully demonstrate all course skill competencies;
  • 100% attendance and participation;
  • 75% minimum passing grade on a written, closed book knowledge evaluation;
  • and adherence to the Fundamental Principles.
Certification:
  • 3-year certification in Airway Management (digital certificate issued upon successful completion).

  • Cross finger technique
  • Tongue-jaw lift
  • Airway adjuncts - insertion and removal
  •  Oropharyngeal (OPA) airways
  •  Nasopharyngeal (NPA) airways

Oxygen Therapy

Designed to provide participants with the knowledge and skills to correctly identify when it is necessary to administer supplemental oxygen. Participants will learn how to properly and safely handle and assemble the equipment and how to correctly deliver supplemental oxygen through the appropriate delivery device. Course can also be combined with Basic Life Support.
Audience:
In-facility and health care providers (nursing, care aides, dental industry, medical offices etc.), pre-hospital care groups (fire departments, rescue teams, sports therapists, lifeguards, SCUBA divers, ski patrol, etc.).
Completion Criteria:
  • Successfully demonstrate all course skill competencies;
  • 100% attendance and participation;
  • 75% minimum passing grade on a written, closed book knowledge evaluation;
